Our eco friendly yoga mat is a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) free mat. Made of "PER” (Polymer Environmental Resin). The PVC in conventional mats is a highly toxic petroleum by-product that off gases continually throughout it's entire lifecycle. Whether you are using the mat or are just near it, you are breathing carcinogenic fumes. Some people are also allergic to natural latex. This mat does not contain phthalates or heavy metals and its method of production is completely non-toxic. Also the mat is biodegradable at the end of its lifecycle.
Care and cleaning: Occassionally wipe mat with a rag dipped in water and baking soda. For an occassional thorough cleaning, place in bathtub with a little baking soda and vinigar. Wipe well, then rinse. This mat is extremely durable and should last many years with heavy use.
